#80 The Mask

“I heard he was in a fire that burnt half his face off.”

“Na, he got caught in the middle of a street fight and someone knifed his face”

“I heard he caught the pox and his face is still full of sores.”

Alan paid no attention to the stories he heard about himself. They wouldn’t be able to accept the truth. He had been a baby when the glow on his face had started blinding people. When he was 3, the witch doctor had given him a mask to wear. ‘Radiant beauty’ took on a new meaning with him.

  2. No man sees his face and lives.
